Bret Friesz is a retired Major from the Nebraska State Patrol serving from 1984 to 2016. As Major he commanded Field Service Division comprised of Traffic Services, Aviation Support, Carrier, Police Service Dogs, and Special Operations. As Major of the Investigative Services Division his command included Criminal, Drug and Liquor enforcement divisions, the Nebraska State Crime Lab, Fusion Center, Criminal ID Division and Human Trafficking Section.
Bret has been a Trooper, Drug Investigator, Police Service Dog handler, SWAT member, Safety and Education officer and an instructor at the Training Academy.
A Master Instructor for the IACP “Leadership in Police Organizations” course. Bret is also a trained “Subject Matter Expert” and former facilitator for the Data-Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety operational model.
Bret is a 2003 graduate of the Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command. Graduate of FBI LEADA. He is a past member of the Association of State Criminal Instigative Agencies, the Midwest High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Executive Board, and the Omaha Metro Area Chiefs Association.
Bret resides in Omaha Nebraska.
