Michael Carter is a 28-year veteran of the Atlanta Police Department and the Program Manager for the Atlanta Police Leadership Institute (APLI). Michael is a dynamic and influential trainer in the areas of Leadership, Interpersonal Communication, and Personal Development. He has worked a total of seven years at the Atlanta Police Training Academy as a recruit coordinator and the commander of the Professional Development Unit, which trains veteran police officers’, supervisors, and professional staff personnel.
Michael is a Senior P.O.S.T state instructor. He holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo’s University and a master’s degree in Criminal Science, also from Saint Leo’s University. Michael is a United States Air Force veteran who served in Desert Storm. During his USAF career, Michael has earned multiple certificates and award recognitions in leadership from the USAF Professional Military Education and the USAF Leadership Academy, from Air University. Michael is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE).
