Section Chief Mark Michalek entered on duty as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2005 and was first assigned to the Houston Field Office. During his tenure in Houston, SC Michalek worked violent crime matters, with a specialization in dismantling serial bank robbery and armored carrier robbery crews. He served in a variety of leadership roles, to include Program Manager of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Program, Supervisory Special Agent of a public corruption squad, and Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the San Diego Field Office, where he oversaw the crisis management, bomb technician, crisis negotiation, and SWAT programs. SC Michalek currently serves as the senior executive responsible for the health and wellbeing of the FBI’s 35,000 employee global workforce.
SC Michalek earned a Bachelor of Science degree in behavioral science from the United States Air Force Academy and a Master of Public Administration degree from Penn State.
At the age of five, SC Michalek lost his father, a police officer, to suicide. He is a strong advocate for promoting wellness and resilience for the law enforcement community and their families.
