Lieutenant Colonel Mauricio Carrillo has been a Police Officer of the Colombia National Police since July 1996. During this time which he has been Police chief, criminal investigator, teacher and lecture in police matters, international advisor and consultant for INL programs in Center America.
He has been participate trough his career in various strategic work teams for the design, implementation and evaluation of projects at the different levels of the National Police, especially in the areas of police education and training, due to which he was awarded the IACP 40 under 40 award in 2018.
He is currently the Director of the Bogota Metropolitan Police Training Academy and a member of the technical secretariat of the advisory board of the Integral Transformation Process of the Police since 2020.
He is leading the process of modifying and perfecting the basic and high liability training model in the following areas: Respect and protection of Human Rights - Principles of the use of force - Police/citizen relations - Police procedures, as part of the changes and new requirements established in Law 2179 (Dec 2021) that requires certification in these training programs.
