Kyle is a criminal investigator with 19 years of U.S. federal law enforcement experience focused on transnational crime, border security, and smuggling. In 2021, Kyle led HSI’s “Operation Kuluna,” an international sting operation resulting in the indictments and guilty pleas of two subjects in U.S. federal court for Lacey Act violations, the seizure of 900 kilograms of poached elephant ivory, and multiple arrests in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2019, Kyle received the “Unity of Effort” award from the United States Secretary of Homeland Security for his work on a smuggling investigation resulting in a $62 million dollar customs penalty. Since 2018, he has collaborated with law enforcement at the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and U.S. federal prosecutors at the Environmental & Natural Resources Division (ENRD) in the development and ongoing delivery of the week-long “Illegal Logging and Forest Crimes” training course at the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in Gaborone, Botswana.
