Vic Brown has been serving as the Executive Director of the Appalachia HIDTA since March 2016 when he was appointed to the position by the Executive Board. He served as the Deputy Director for the AHIDTA from 2011 until March of 2016. Mr. Brown retired from the Kentucky State Police in 2011, following a successful 20-year career.
In March of 2021 Senator Mitch McConnell appointed Vic Brown to serve on the bipartisan Commission on Combating Synthetic Opioid Trafficking. The Commission is comprised of legislative branch members and nationally recognized subject matter experts. The Commission was tasked with developing a strategy to stop the flow of synthetic opioids into the United States.
In June of 2022, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron appointed Mr. Brown is serve on the Opioid Abatement Commission for Kentucky. The purpose of the commission is to disseminate the $483 million dollars awarded to Kentucky through the settlement reached against certain manufacturers and distributors of opioids.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Kentucky.
