Michael Diekhoff began his carrer with the Bloomington Police Department in 1987, he was appointed Police Chief in January of 2008.
Chief Diekhoff is active in issues that impact policing today. He has created programing to help those people experiencing homelessness, mental health crisis and substance use issues as well as createing the State of Indiana’s first Police Social Worker program.
Chief Diekhoff is a past President of the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police and currently the President of the Foundation Board of Directors as well as serving on the Government Relations committee. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, is on the Police Administration Committee and is a member of the Midsize Agencies Section. He also is a member of the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF). He has peviousley presented on hate crime reporting for The Police Foundation, IACP and the Department of Justice.
A native of Bloomington, Indiana, Chief Diekhoff is a graduate of Indiana University and the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course.
