Kevin Stiff is currently the Coordinator of Homelessness Response for the City of Sarasota and is a certified Crisis Intervention Training Coordinator. Captain Stiff is a 37-year veteran law enforcement officer, having served with 3 different agencies, including the U.S. Army Military Police. He retired in 2017 as Captain of the Sarasota Police Department Patrol Division, having served as past Commander of the Explosive Materials and Special Weapons units. Kevin has presented law enforcement best practices to the IACP, CIT International, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Florida Institute on Homelessness & Supportive Housing, Florida Coalition for the Homeless, the Florida Housing Coalition, and the National Social Services Conference. Mr. Stiff was awarded a U.S. Congressional Law Enforcement Unit Citation and co-recipient of the 2019 Sarasota NAACP President’s Award for his work on SPD’s homelessness crisis response program, winner of the 2017 IACP Leadership in Human and Civil Rights Award.
