Deputy Chief Gallop began his career with the Hampton Police Division in September1993, and has risen through the ranks to his current position as Deputy Chief of Police. He has commanded Uniform Patrol, Investigative Services, Special Investigations Unit and Professional Standards Branches. Deputy Chief Gallop has been a member of multiple specialty units to include the Tactical Unit. Deputy Chief Gallop was awarded the Hampton Police Division’s prestigious P. G. Minetti Excellence in Leadership Award. In 2020, Deputy Chief Gallop was appointed by the Governor to serve on Virginia’s Lottery Board for a term of 5 years. Deputy Chief Gallop is very active with the City of Hampton and Hampton Police Division’s efforts to reduce gun violence. He has worked with Johns Hopkins University since 2017 developing and implementing effective gun-violence reduction strategies. This collaboration has included various non-profits and currently the City of Hampton’s Violent Crime Case Review initiative.
Deputy Chief Gallop currently resides in Hampton, Virginia with his wife Beverly Carter-Gallop.
