Vonda Matthews has worked for the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, U.S. Department of Justice (COPS Office) for more than 25 years. She has worked in Training, External Affairs, and the Technical Assistance and Partnership Engagement Divisions. She has led teams including the Community Policing Development solicitation working group and the Awards Management team, developing and delivering solicitations and identifying gaps and improving processes spanning the entire grant-making lifecycle. She was awarded the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award for her efforts in creating the Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation. Ms. Matthews develops communities of practice as a cohort manager of the Crisis Intervention and De-escalation Teams. She holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Redlands and has been certified as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Dialectical Behavior Counselor.
