Executive Assistant Chief of Police
Executive Assistant Chief Lonzo Anderson grew up in Palestine, Texas, and always dreamed of being a police officer. Chief Anderson has spent all his 25 years in law enforcement with the Dallas Police Department. He moved through the ranks by working as a patrol officer, an investigator, a City Manager’s liaison, and a Patrol lieutenant. After being promoted to Major, and then Deputy Chief, Chief Anderson was appointed Assistant Chief over the Patrol Bureau, which encompasses seven individual patrol stations and covers all 364 square miles of Dallas. In March 2021, Chief Anderson was promoted to his current rank of Executive Assistant Chief over the Patrol and Administrative Bureaus.
Chief Anderson is a graduate of Tarleton State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and has completed a Master of Science in Criminal Justice – Public Administration at Liberty University. A firm believer in evidence-based policing, Chief Anderson’s goal is to make Dallas the safest city in America by implementing research-driven policing and community engagement methods.
