Reuben Ramirez is a 26-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department where he currently holds the rank of Assistant Chief of Police. Chief Ramirez started his career with DPD in 1995 and quickly had the opportunity to serve on several specialized taskforce groups throughout the DFW area, including the ATF taskforce, FBI-Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the Department of Homeland Security’s Intellectual Crime taskforce. Ramirez holds a bachelor’s degree from Midwestern State University and a master’s in Behavioral Sciences/Humanities from Southern Methodist University.
Assistant Chief Ramirez currently serves as Commander of the Criminal Investigations Bureau, a role he has held since February 2021.Chief Ramirez previously commanded the Internal Affairs Division and Special Operations Bureau. Since 2016, Ramirez has served as the Dallas Police Department’s Legislative Affairs Coordinator. Additionally, Assistant Chief Ramirez is the Commander of DPD’s newly-formed Wellness Unit, which serves to assist employees in managing their emotional and physical wellbeing.
