Dan served over fourteen years in the FTO program at the Chandler Police Department. During his tenure Dan was involved in several projects such as redeveloping Standardized Evaluations; the transition into electronic evaluation writing and storage; implementing continuous and advanced training sessions for FTOs, as well as redeveloping the structure of the program to include adult learning startegies. As a result, Dan has received a Meritorious Service Award and his team was awarded the Unit Citation award.
Dan holds certificates as a General Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Field Training Officer, and AZPOST Subject Matter Expert in Instructor Development as well as an IADELST National Certified Instructor.
As the Executive Director of NAFTO, Dan has taught thousands of students in numerous FTO schools for local, county and state law enforcement across the country. As a member of NAFTOs curriculum development team, Dan helped NAFTO build the nation’s first Basic FTO Certification Course.
In 2017, Dan was honored to be recognized by the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association as their ILEETA Trainer of the Year.
