Detective Mead has been with LVMPD since January 1998. His past assignments have included patrol, gang unit, academy instructor, and the counterterrorism section. Detective Mead is also assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force focusing on matters related to domestic terrorism and targeted violence. Currently, Detective Mead works as the Threat Assessment Program Coordinator which attempts to identify, mitigate, and manage subjects identified as being on a pathway to targeted/mass violence. This often includes workplace violence, school violence, ideological based violence, and mass violence as seen during the 1 October Route 91 Las Vegas Mass Shooting. Detective Mead possesses a BA in Abnormal Psychology, MS in Criminal Justice, Post Graduate Cert in Forensic Psychology, and is working on his PhD. Detective Mead regularly presents the Oct 1 case debrief to law enforcement and threat assessment training to public and private sector stakeholders in Nevada. Detective Mead is a member of the Threat Assessment Committe at Allegiant Stadium and an active member in the Desert Southwest Region of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals.
