Captain Rich Gabaldon is a 28 year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department. He was born and raised in the City of Torrance, California.
Captain Gabaldon received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Criminal Justice from USC in 1993. He earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University Dominguez Hills.
In 1994, he joined the LAPD. His assignments included Patrol Officer, Gang Officer, Field Training Officer, and Metropolitan Division.
In 2002, he promoted to Sergeant, where he worked as a supervisor in Patrol, Gangs, Internal Affairs, and as an Assistant Watch Commander.
In 2012, he promoted to Lieutenant where he worked as a Patrol Watch Commander, and as the Officer in Charge of the Hollywood Entertainment Detail.
In 2014, he was named Commanding Officer of Hollywood Detectives.
Chief Michel Moore promoted Captain Gabaldon in January of 2020 to Commanding Officer of North Hollywood Patrol Division. In April 2021, Captain Gabaldon was assigned as Assistant Commanding Officer at Force Investigation Division. In October 2021, Captain Gabaldon was assigned as the Commanding Officer of Force Investigation Division.
