Executive Director Survivors of Blue Suicide Foundation (SBS) Camdenton, Missouri, United States
The global pandemic and increased violence in U.S. cities have led to a sharp uptick in the number of line of duty deaths (LODD). Law enforcement administrators are becoming increasingly more likely to be faced with the challenge of leading their agency through the loss of an officer. When a death occurs, all eyes are on the chief for direction and response. The differing dynamics between the different types of potential deaths in an agency can present a challenge to administrators. This workshop will provide an analysis of the data trends surrounding LODD death and the recent legislative changes, will address tough decisions chiefs will face after a LODD in their agency or after an officer dies by suicide, and will include strategies on how best to respond.
