The Collaborative Policing Model: An Innovative Approach

The Harpour Group, LLC, is an organization built out of the collaborative work of multi-sector partners including an age-friendly community initiative, Generations for Garfield, and the Garfield, New Jersey, Police Departmnet Community Affairs Division. The City of Garfield itself has a great history of coalition building, particularly through the public health department, and has received numerous grants for programming and outreach related to public health, environmental health, and collaborative policing initiatives. In this workshop, we will outline strategies for building a strong community coalition and the role it can play in increasing engagement—more successful engagement can lead to a reduction in crime and response time for emergent and non-emergent issues and better outcomes for residents of all ages.
