Pre-employment, post-accident, return-to-work, and periodic physical abilities tests can increase the safety of officers and the public. However, many police departments struggle with adopting a legally compliant physical abilities testing program. The presenters, Kate Koop Irwin, Esq., a labor and employment attorney, Traci Tauferner, LAT, CSCS, a certified tactical athletic trainer, and Ginnie Marshall (Halling), PT - will discuss the practical implications and best practices for developing a legally compliant physical abilities testing program. Presenters will use their real world experience in a recent legal case, as well as other case studies, to help attendees understand how they can increase overall workplace safety.
