The Atlanta, Georgia, Police Department (APD) will offer insights into best practices and successes associated with its leadership development program. APD discuss the broader factors that drove the need for more comprehensive leadership development within law enforcement and how the needs of the police department, city, and communities have been fulfilled through the IACP leadership development programs and the support of other civil entities and organizations. Additionally, APD will discuss how the selected training approach was determined and how leadership programs influenced the department, as well as highlight key components of this initiative that are scalable for police agencies, cities, states, and counties should they consider similar broad-scale training efforts.
