Recent Orientation of “K- Restorative Justice” and its Examples on the Security Scene

Recently, the paradigm of Korean policing has steadily changed from catch and punishment into prevention and restorative justice. Several years ago, Korean police officers were highly complimented when catching violent offenders like murderers. However, the situation changed greatly. Civil society and the media might criticize the police even if they catch many serious offenders. If the police miss the golden time to prevent the violent crime, and victims are harmed or killed, other achievements in catch and punishment would be seen as meaningless.
