Police agencies across the world recognize the physical and psychological impacts of police work. We must develop a more systematic and evidence-informed methodology for early identification of workplace factors, beyond traditional trauma, that are harming our police. The findings of a survey undertaken with an Australian police agency (over 11,500 sworn personnel) to create metrics for an early identification system, designed to identify workplace harms and stressors, will be presented. A discussion will be led by Police Chief Carroll and Dr. Drew exploring how the metrics collected will be integrated into the agency performance management system. The findings will drive strategic performance and better equip frontline police leaders to create healthier workplaces.
