Leadership knowledge and behaviors influence the psychological wellbeing of their staff. While many police leadership programs exist, there is a lack of empirically validated police leadership programs that specifically focus on building and sustaining psychologically healthy workplaces. A leader who is likely to have the most impact on wellbeing has skills and knowledge beyond those that we traditionally correlate with "good" leadership. Griffith University and the Australian Institute of Police Management has built a comprehensive database of empirical evidence related to police leadership for wellness. The database is driving the development of a police leadership program for middle-management leaders who play a critical role in creating healthy workplace environments.
