Firearm violence is impacting communities across the United States. Nationally and locally there have been unprecedented increases in homicides and nonfatal shootings. A strong collaborative partnership between public health and public safety is critical to address the current firearm violence crisis. A homicide/shooting review process (HR) convenes a multi-sector team to review aggregate and case-level data. Law enforcement plays a significant and important role in shaping a HR and understanding firearm violence needs prevention, intervention, and enforcement strategies at the state, local, and federal level.
