National Director, Wellness Services Fraternal Order of Police Meriden, Connecticut, United States
A survey was undertaken of U.S. law enforcement personnel to capture the contemporary critical issues faced by law enforcement officers and their agencies. The survey was deployed in the summer of 2021 to members of the Fraternal Order of Police. It examined critical issues, such as police-community relations, qualified immunity, and anti-police rhetoric. In turn, it identified key stressors experienced by police officers across the U.S. and how they impact mental health and well-being outcomes. Workplace and community factors, beyond traditional critical trauma events, are causing significant harm to police. The presentation provides practical, actionable advice that can be used by police agencies and their leaders to reform police organizations and create healthier workplaces.
