This interactive presentation will examine the need and benefits of establishing a strong, healthy support system for individuals who are routinely exposed to vicarious trauma and traumatic stress in the course of their day-to-day work. We will discuss why support is vital, what support could look like to help decrease stress and anxiety and increase fun and connection with family and friends, and how to establish a multidimensional action plan to wellness. Social connectedness and strong ties to family, friends and community are the strongest predictors of a resilient individual who is able to bounce back from trauma and maintain their positive outlook of the world and their place in it.
