Mr. Pakorn Patimetha P Squared LLC Bound Brook, New Jersey, United States
In recent years, hazmat team members are increasingly being asked to assist with incidents involving suspected clandestine laboratory during the course of their duties. With the resurgence of psychedelic drugs such as DMT and THC extraction, these incidents are often mistaken for Homemade Explosive (HME) or other nefarious operations. Most fire-based hazmat teams are not trained on the characteristics and hazards of narcotic substances. This lack of training can often result in misidentification of items found at the scene. This training will provide an overview of the traditional clandestine laboratory such as methamphetamine and the more recent reemergence of psychedelics such as DMT and psilocybin mushroom. Upon completion of this training, the students will have the basic knowledge necessary to safely categorize and avoid the common hazards of clandestine laboratories that can be encountered in the field.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to identify the type of clandestine laboratories based in its precursor chemicals and associated equipment.
Participants will be to select the appropriate PPE and detection equipment to mitigate each type of clandestine laboratory incident.
