This session will be a fresh look at the critical activity of PPE Selection that must occur at every hazardous materials incident. It will focus on the operational environment where the rubber meets the road concentrating on a process of selection using what the responder has in her or her closet. It will also examine the new NFPA Standards, 1990 and 1891. if any participants request I will create a specifically tailored PPE Selection Worksheet for each represented Hazmat Team.
Learning Objectives:
Identify three levels and types of vapor-protective and splash-protective clothing and the advantages and disadvantages of each type
Identify, describe and demonstrate the process for selecting proper protective clothing at a HazMat/WMD incident.
List and describe the new NFPA Standards 1900 and 1891 for chemical protective clothing and their influence on selection.
