Flame spectroscopy technology is an important tool for first responders in order to detect existing and emerging chemical and biological threats. An overview of flame spectroscopy will be covered showing showing how it works and what it is able to detect. Various examples showing detection of different types of toxic industrial materials, opioids such as Fentanyl, and chemical warfare agents including fourth generation agents such as Novichoks will be covered along with videos. Simultaneous detection of both chemical and biological materials will also be discussed.
