Instructor/Chief Pilot SERTC (Security And Emergency Response Training Center) Pueblo, Colorado, United States
"I can tell you what's in that tank from a mile away." Sounds like big talk but with a good set of binoculars or a drone this is very possible. Not only do most highway tankers utilize common designs for the various materials they transport, but knowing how to utilize the information posted on the outside of both the container and the tractor can give you access to very specific response information for the materials being transported. This session will give participants the knowledge necessary to rapidly predict the types of hazardous materials present at a highway emergency...from a distance.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to describe the 5 main types of bulk highway hazardous materials tankers.
Participants will be able to identify design features that give clues about what's being transported in other types of containers.
Participants will learn how to utilize the information to respond to the incident in a safe manner.
