Incidents at chemical plants that produce, and store potentially hazardous chemicals may seem daunting and challenging. However, you have the key role in emergencies involving the release of a chemical that could harm people’s health or the environment. This session will better prepare you to handle a wide range of incidents “inside the fence line” of chemical manufacturing facilities. You will learn about some common manufacturing activities and processes and how to size up a chemical facility. We will review common hazards found “inside the fenceline” and learn to predict where and how incidents may happen. Lastly, we will develop strategies and tactics to address a wide range of emergencies and technical rescues involving potentially hazardous materials.
