Most HazMat incidents don't require a full written incident action plan (IAP), but still need to be managed effectively and consistent with ICS/NIMS. This session will help HazMat Officers develop a quick, street-level, verbal IAP including a strategy recommendation to the IC and tactical objectives for the HazMat team. Topics will include specific recommendations on how-to gain situational awareness quickly, conduct an incident assessment, prioritize incident objectives, recommend a strategy, select HazMat tactics, and deliver a briefing on the IAP.
Learning Objectives:
Given a simulated HazMat incident, the student will be able to develop a proposed verbal incident action plan (IAP) including objectives, strategy, and tactics.
