This course will provide key tips and tools to assist emergency response agencies - local, regional, and State - in becoming better prepared for planning for and responding to emergencies involving pipelines. The course will cover a review of several major pipeline incidents and involve Incident response considerations to a mock pipeline incident scenario utilizing tools provided. Topics to be covered include, but are not limited to: developing and participating in PERIs; conducting risk based assessments; overview of the NPMS; developing training programs for responders; establishing and developing Operator contacts; Pipeline Incident Management; and an overview of the the NVFC FD PREPP Toolkit.
Learning Objectives:
The participant, using the information and tools provided in the workshop, develop an Incident Action Plan (IAP) for a mock pipeline scenario, including key IAP subcomponents
The participant, using the information/tools provided, be able to develop an organizational pipeline pre-incident response plan to include a training component; a resource allocation list; and an Operator contact list.
The participant, using the information/tools provided in the workshop, will be able to conduct a basic risk based assessment of their jurisdiction as it relates to pipelines.
