The Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), also known the Title III of the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act (SARA Title III), requires users, manufacturers, transporters, and those who store hazardous materials in specific quantities to report their presence to the local fire department and Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPC) on an annual basis. Although only a snapshot when the report is sent, this valuable information can provide critical information to first responders when they need it most. Do you effectively use this information regularly within your department or agency? Are you able to weed through the myriad of details to find those critical snippets that can ensure a timely, effective and safe response? The course will help the participant employ readily available technologies and develop skills to analyze a facility’s hazardous materials information more effectively and use those details to produce more comprehensive pre-incident plans. Participants will actively participate in a practical application of the process from receipt of a Tier II report thru the development of a pre-incident plan. These skills can be taken back to home agencies and replicated for facilities in the participants’ jurisdictions.
