Melanie Colburn is a Director of U.S. Market Transformation & Development at the U.S. Green Building Council. She leads the USGBC Northern California and USGBC Orange County Communities. This year, she co-led the Greenbuild 2022 Host Committee and steered the Legacy Project and Greenbuild Tours working groups. At Greenbuild, she will run the “Smart Building Charrette, circa 2030: Realizing the Promise of High-Performance Green Buildings” session (90 min.) | Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2:45–4:15 p.m.
Prior to joining USGBC, Melanie worked as a strategy and management consultant specializing in corporate responsibility and sustainability. Within various positions, she has advised Fortune 500 companies in Consumer Goods & Retail, Information and Communication Technology, Energy & Transportation, and Healthcare. Previously, she supported the sustainability program at Autodesk, served as public relations director for a San Francisco-based agency, and contributed to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s ‘Vision 2050’ project.
Melanie graduated with honors and a double-major from the University of California, Berkeley, and holds an MBA in Sustainable Business with honors from San Francisco State University. She recently earned a Circular Economy certificate from the University of Cambridge. She currently serves on the Political Economy Advisory Board at U.C. Berkeley, as well as serving on working groups with Build It Green and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council.
