Commissioning Group Leader

John Bergman is the Commissioning Group Leader for dbHMS with a primary focus in Building Enclosures. Trained as a structural engineer, he has devoted his career to building performance and challenging the way industry professionals think. From detailed analysis during the design stage to forensic investigations for existing buildings, John has a vast knowledge of building enclosure issues and has an uncanny sense to foresee build-ability issues that impact performance. As a certified BECxP, CxA+BE, and HERS Rater, John strives to assist building owners procure comfortable, durable, efficient buildings while reducing operating and maintenance costs. John has extensive speaking experience, including the Better Buildings Better Business, MiAPPA, and AASHE conferences, BEC Chicago, in addition to dozens of presentations for architectural and owner groups, and previously teaching on behalf of the Illinois Association of Energy Raters (IAER).
