Dr. Rueben Smith, serves as the Vice Chancellor and Chief Facilities Executive for the Los Angeles Community College District. Undergraduate degrees in civil engineering and mathematics, a master’s degree in environmental sustainability and a doctorate in computer science, Dr. Smith is a community minded partner recognizes environmental stewardship requires a global commitment to address environmental issues of inequity and social injustice one neighborhood at a time. He oversees a $14.9B capital improvement program, which is the largest community college building program in the nation.
He has been in 2022 CMAA awarded Owner of the Year Award. Leadership Award by the Asian American Architects and Engineers also receiving certificates of distinction from Congress, State Senate, State Assembly, and Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, also Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC) with a Special Recognition Award for his impact and contributions for local, small, and disadvantage business enterprises.
