Alice Sung, AIA, LEED AP, BD+C, SEA is Founding Principal of Greenbank Associates, a green building/sustainability consultant and climate justice advocate. As a licensed architect with over 25 years of experience, Alice has facilitated the greening of dozens of public, private, and educational facilities, including LEED Platinum certified buildings and CHPS Verified schools. She holds degrees in Architecture from UC Berkeley and MIT, LEED AP, BD+C, ISSP-Sustainability Associate credentials (now SEA), and is a trained Climate Reality Leader. In 2018 NBI awarded her the “Zero Net Energy Leadership, Individual Award.” She has been a longtime active leader of the AIA/COTE, USGBC, Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS,) and the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP.) As a Member-Leader of the NAACP Centering Equity in Sustainable Building Sector Initiative, she participated in a year-long "Environmental Justice and Equity" Task Group of the Federal General Services Administration's Green Building Advisory Committee (GBAC), helping to develop and lift up over 100 Recommendations to the GBAC to be included in an Advice Letter to the Federal GSA towards addressing justice and equity through the decarbonization, standards/guidelines, and management/operations of the Federal portfolio.
Recently, she was awarded an Environmental Justice Movement Fellowship by The Tishman Environment and Design Center at The New School to participate in a cohort of 20 environmental justice leaders to contribute to pedagogy, policy, research and development in support of community-led solutions towards: Climate Justice, Energy Democracy, Just Transition, and Public Health. Working as a change agent with combined professional and lived experiences, she hopes to bridge the technical, green buliding sector and a prioritization of grassroot environmental justice (EJ) community solutions with benefits to drive systemic change towards Climate Justice and Energy Democracy at pace and scale by 2030.
