Javier Arizmendi FAIA is currently a Design Director in the San Francisco office
of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, where he leads the design
of a significant portfolio of projects in various geographic
locations and practice areas. His built and active design work is
located in North America, China, the Middle East and Africa.
Javier’s architecture embraces the specific urban, climatic,
cultural, and material context in which it operates. He firmly
believes that only through this kind of focused engagement
can we create a relevant and lasting architecture capable of
addressing today’s challenges. Global warming, mass migrations,
water scarcity … these are issues that have specific regional
manifestations, and as such demand specific responses to place.
