(SIOK) Keynote: Humanizing Resiliency in Green Building: Why Quality of Life is Driving Clean Energy Transformation
Thursday, October 13, 2022
7:00 AM – 8:00 AM
Location: Virtual Session
Join widely regarded executive producer and host of Climate One Greg Dalton as he interviews Mark Chambers, Architect, national environmental policy leader, first ever building emissions director and Presidential appointee to the Biden-Harris Administration’s Council on Environmental Quality. This dialog promises a broad-based, lively and thought provoking kickoff of the Sustainable Infrastructure Summit. Mark’s theory of change is informed by the key role he played in the passage of New York City’s Local Law 97, one of the most ambitious plans for reducing emissions in the nation that has served to facilitate standards in states and cities across the nation. Hear stories and examples of innovative ideas and solutions to clean energy and the sustainable built environment. Change is rapidly happening but Chambers will share his insights on why inaction is impacting the individual and societal quality of life and why this is the key element that is going to drive change and require progress at all levels of society. This discussion will also touch on why technology is not enough to deliver the exponential change we need around climate mobilization, and how we must change the conversation to humanize transformation and scale solutions. We are not questioning if we need to change, but rather when we are all going to lean in.
Learning Objectives:
Explore the intersectionality of sustainability progress and societal change
Hear stories of sustainable infrastructure success stories
