Sven at Queens Plaza Park is an example of what happens when the project team commits to sustainable design and construction practices and takes the long view on how to build and operate that building. From large-scale building systems like blackwater treatment and cogeneration plants, to small-scale design choices like healthy material vetting and ground glass pozzolan, The Durst Organization left all options on the table with Sven. This presentation intends to show teams that earning LEED Platinum on a 1,000,000 square foot building in New York City is possible, all while maintaining the historical site that the project is building upon.
