Uber’s new Global Headquarters has set the path for the next generation of healthy and sustainable buildings. The micro-city 4 building campus in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood prioritizes connection and people and planet health. Mission Bay 2 and Mission Bay 3 buildings will be featured on the tour. The buildings feature an operable facade allowing natural light and air into the atrium, massive outdoor terraces with sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay, maximized daylighting, low-emitting materials, a culinary program with produce from onsite gardens, and extensive wellness spaces. MB2 achieved WELL Gold, LEED Gold (NC) and the WELL Health & Safety Rating. Mission Bay 3 achieved WELL Platinum, LEED Gold (CI) and the WELL Health Safety Rating.
Learning Objectives:
Discover the creative workplace benefits of the “city within a city” concept, connecting different floors and buildings in a passively conditioned multi-building solarium flush with natural ventilation, daylighting, radiant flooring and biophilia.
Experience simultaneous mediation of radiant symmetry and vertical air distribution through the tailored mechanical system, consisting of an overhead radiant panel system and underfloor, demand-controlled, air distribution system.
Investigate the effects of water reuse on the irrigation potential of the on-site plant and culinary program, leading to biophilic leveling and freshly cooked herbs and plants in the on-site full-service kitchen.
Explore audio-visual, lighting, skyfold doors, and envelope integration in the campus lobby, main auditorium, and first floor flex- and event-spaces.
Compare the health benefits of a workplace that enhances the connection to the outdoors through daylighting, dynamic space planning and biophilia, and weaves HVAC into seamless integration with the space expression which resulted in low noise and vibration levels.
