The onsite tour will present numerous systems, technologies, amenities, and processes that have made 49 South Van Ness LEED Platinum. After entering the building through the main entrance on South Van Ness Avenue, a Real Estate Division staff member will introduce the attendees to some of the public facing areas’ environmentally sensible characteristics. A visual and aural demonstration of the building’s green designs will be witnessed as the tour travels from the basement to the top floor. 49 South Van Ness’s unique green building features illustrate the City and County of San Francisco’s commitment to minimizing its impact on the environment.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how the Greywater system works and how much recycled water is being used at the building and the percentage of potable water saved
Learn how the building promotes alternate transportation to and from work: bike to work opportunities, vehicle pools and public transit screen stations
Learn how nearly 4,000 sf of rooftop solar panels provide energy back to the grid
See how dynamic glazing manages heat, controls glare, and maintains beautiful 360-degree views of San Francisco and beyond. Learn how this technology also helped to re-claim floorspace at the perimeter, allowing employees to work comfortably at windows with great views. Learn about the technology of electrochromic glass and understand the benefits natural daylight in the workplace
