(I11) Scaling Up: Achieving Sustainability Goals Across Real Estate Portfolios

Throughout its history, USGBC has worked with building portfolios and the teams that lead them by providing critical sustainability products and solutions. This work has resulted in hundreds of thousands of buildings demonstrating achievement of sustainability goals through LEED certification with GBCI and tracking building performance in Arc. Across the global market, large portfolio owners are making decarbonization commitments often associated with ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives that include equity and wellbeing as key goals. With these commitments comes an immediate need to verify improvements around environmental performance, equity, and well-being at the portfolio scale. Financial and regulatory mechanisms around ESG and decarbonization have elevated this challenge, highlighting the need for specific, proven guidance and tracking tools.

In this interactive session we’ll review building portfolio achievements, opportunities, and solutions and explore ways that green building tools and expertise can scaled to the portfolio scale. We’ll review the path forward focused upon rapid scaling, increased reach, and widespread global outcomes.
