The shift to developing circular products has become a key topic for industries over the past decade, and specifically the built environment. The Cradle to Cradle® Certified Version 4.0 Standard – a multi-attributed certification program for products that are safe, circular, and responsibly made – captures the leading best practices across the five pillars within circular practices: updating Material Health requirements, global best practices for Product Circularity and Social Fairness, higher standards for the Clean Air and Climate Protection requirements, and the focus on Water and Soil Stewardship from extraction to end use.
The panelist will share how Shaw Industries Group, INC. implemented the Cradle to Cradle Certified Version 4 Pilot Program to support the testing and adoption of the final Cradle to Cradle® Certified Version 4.0 Standard. Shaw’s ability to meet Version 4 requirements are supported by developing long-term relationships with suppliers, demonstrating manufacturing scale take-back programs for their carpet tile, maintaining transparency with stakeholders, reaching carbon neutrality for all commercial carpet operations, and upholding human rights and fair and equitable business practices. Their dedication to manufacture safe and healthy products for the built environment led to their EcoWorx® Carpet Tile to become the first product in the U.S. and first global built environment product to achieve C2C Certified® Silver under the version 4.0 standard.
