Most of the world's population lives in cities, yet access to nature is uneven, leading to disconnected and unhealthy communities that are not resilient to future climate stresses and shocks. To address this and ecological stressors, there is a resurgence of efforts to rewild our cities and urban areas, to provide connections to nature even in the most dense locations. A key element of this rewilding is the recognition that there needs to be a creative re-thinking of how nature is integrated into the city, the role of biodiversity, and that health equity needs to be central. From rethinking the waters edge of New York City to the wild and biodiverse solutions of Singapore and the reclaiming of vacant lots, the strategies and solutions to bringing nature into cities are plentiful and showcase this new phase of urban greening.
