Eileen Flores, DrPH, MPH, recently obtained her Doctor of Public Health degree with a concentration in health systems organization and policy at Penn State College of Medicine. She earned her bachelor's degree in neuroscience and behavior at Barnard College, Columbia University and her master's degree in public health with a concentration in epidemiology at New York Medical College. Eileen’s primary research interests are addressing health disparities, with an interest among minority and aging populations, and utilizing the research to inform policy.
Eileen was one of five recipients of the Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research award to address the needs of oppressed populations in Pennsylvania. Her dissertation work was a mixed methods study that studied opportunities to work with Hispanic adults to promote education and prevention of skin cancer in central PA. Her prior experiences include working at the Office of Health Equity at the PA Department of Health and performing policy work with the Gerontological Society of America in Washington, D.C. Prior to Penn State, she was a senior research coordinator and research scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY, where her research focused on the optimization of screening procedures for non-melanoma skin cancers and various dermatologic conditions and treatments among the Medicare population.
