Molly Wagster, Ph.D. is Chief of the Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience Branch, Division of Neuroscience, at the National Institute on Aging. She oversees research in the areas of cognitive neuroscience, affective neuroscience, motor disorders, sensory systems, pain, delirium and post-operative decline - all in the context of aging and age-related neurodegenerative diseases. She directly manages a portfolio of research in neural mechanisms of cognitive change with age that spans research from molecules to behavior, with focus on constructs of reserve, resilience, and resistance to dementia in the aging brain. She led the trans-NIH team for development of the NIH Toolbox® for Assessment of Neurological and Behavioral Function. Dr. Wagster serves as the NIA representative for both BRAIN and NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research initiatives. She serves as a Federal Liaison to AARP’s Global Council on Brain Health and leads the NIA component of the McKnight Brain Research Foundation/NIA Research Partnership in Cognitive Aging, through the Foundation for NIH.
