Dr. Francesca Nicosia, PhD, C-IAYT, is a medical anthropologist, certified yoga therapist, and health services researcher based at the San Francisco VA Integrative Health Service and an Assistant Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, Institute for Health & Aging. Her research focuses on: 1) development, implementation, and evaluation of nonpharmacologic interventions to improve pain and functional outcomes for veterans and older adults; 2) mind-body movement; and 3) qualitative methods in implementation science. Dr. Nicosia is a Co-Investigator of the Preventing Loss of Independence through Exercise (PLIÉ) Program -- a mind-body movement program for people living with dementia, cognitive impairment, and care partners. She also leads a multi-site TeleYoga program funded by the VA Office of Rural Health and serves as a Yoga Therapy and tele-Whole Health subject matter expert for the VA Office of Patient Centered Care & Cultural Transformation's Integrative Health Coordinating Center.
