Harper Kim is currently a 3rd year medical student at UAB Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). He graduated from Brown University with a major in neuroscience. While at Brown, he worked in Dr. Marc Tatar’s lab to investigate how insulin/IGF-1 signaling controls the rate of aging. As a post-bac in Dr. Mark Mattson’s lab at National Institute on Aging (NIA), he studied mechanisms by which dietary restriction and ketones delay brain aging and ameliorate Alzheimer pathologies. For his PhD dissertation studies, in Dr. Pickering’s lab, he investigated how the transient early-life protein translation spike causes proteostasis collapse and aging.
