Brian D. Jones, MSEE will be Co-Project Director on the Capacity Building and Training project. He is a Principal Research Engineer in the Georgia Tech Interactive Media Technology Center and Director of the Aware Home Research Initiative at Georgia Tech. Jones has been actively involved in health and aging technology research for over 15 years. During this time, he has applied existing technologies and developed new technology solutions to explore the benefits technology can provide for older adults, particularly in the home environment. Current projects include the Cognitive Empowerment Program with focus on home technology to empower people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and their care partners through activity monitoring and actionable feedback; the Smartbathroom – a lab environment instrumented with sensors to study bathroom transfers of older adults and people with disabilities; and the GaitRate system for measuring gait speed as part of the clinical workflow. Jones holds Bachelors and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
